Cebu province under 'enhanced community quarantine' starting March 27

The province of Cebu will be placed under "enhanced community quarantine" beginning March 27, Friday to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In an executive order signed Wednesday, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia ordered that starting 12:01 a.m. Friday, travelers on international flights will be denied entry to the province. Outbound travelers however are allowed to leave Cebu. It is not clear if returning residents will be allowed to enter the province or not. Meanwhile, cargo movement in and out of the province will not be restricted. "Basic and essential goods and other necessities shall be given priority over other goods," the executive order said. Police, military and other security personnel will enforce the measure. Last week, Cebu province recorded its first confirmed COVID-19 case in Mandaue City. As of Wednesday, the Philippines has logged 636 COVID-19 cases, including 38 deaths and 26 recoveries. Due to the growing number of COVID-19 infections, the northern island of Luzon was earlier placed under the enhance quarantine to combat the disease's spread.
